Programs

  • Private Lesson

    • Accepted students are offered private lessons of 30, 45, or 60 minutes in duration. Students must select one division of enrollment from Amateur, Associate, and Elite groups.

  • Music Theory (Rudiments, Harmony, Counterpoint, Analysis)

    • Based on the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum, students learn the fundamental of music theory with full preparation for official examinations.

  • Music History (History 9, 10, ARCT)

    • Studying the broad timeline of musical background will prepare students for the official RCM examinations.

  • Musicianship

    • Musicianship program is a specialized course that focuses on ear training and sight-reading skills in preparation for the RCM examinations.

  • RCM Kids Club

    • RCM Kids Club is a special team of students who build special memories and experiences throughout the year. Passing the admission requirement, selected students host, organize, and participate in numerous events, while taking advantage of all the clinics have to offer.

  • Summer Camps

    • The academy offers various opportunities for students in summer. The camp allows students to explore various instruments, work on ensemble, and learn in-depth in specific topics, such as accelerated theory course, directing a concert, get-away excursion, practice camp, and many more!

  • Adult Curriculum (age 21 and up)

    • This course is designed to fit the need of a busy adult while learning the piano. The curriculum is on an 18-week system and includes group meetings to elaborate on the hobby with a like-minded group of people.

  • Music Appreciation

    • Music Appreciation class introduces music as a whole learning a great number of current repertoires in classical music with some background in theory and history. An outcome of vast knowledge and general musical terms is expected as we advance to the next level.

  • Masterclass

    • Weekly and monthly masterclasses are available to current students in corresponding divisions. Special masterclasses feature some of the best world-class artists.

Junior Artist Program

  • Junior Artist Program offers a full curriculum in achieving a specific level for students enrolled in Division 2 and 3. While it is important to continue private lessons with success, we believe that a comprehensive program will bring extra support to becoming a well-rounded musician. Students are required to take mandatory courses and gain a minimum credit in order to satisfy each level. Students must take a Placement Exam in order to join in the middle of the course or skip a level.

  • Piano Adventure’s Course (age 4 – 8)

    • This 7-week introductory course outlines the basic anatomy of the piano with finger coordination and definitions. Students will have the opportunity to explore the piano and discover how they can relate to the instrument. Students are assessed at the end for their musical aptitude, learning behavior, readiness in private/group setting, and musical interest. Successful students are offered a promotion to appropriate classes and levels.

  • Creative Explorers A (age 4 – 6)

    • In this class, students learn to read staff lines and notes as well as gaining physical control in two-hand coordination. Students are assessed at the end for their ability to understand the lectures and connect physically. Upon completion of the Creative Explorer A course, successful students are offered a promotion to appropriate classes and levels. 8 weeks.
    • ONLINE FORMAT: FOUR 20-minute Group Classes (every 2 weeks) and SIX 15-minute Private Online Lessons (convenient scheduling)
    • IN-PERSON FORMAT: EIGHT 35-minute Group Classes

  • Creative Explorers B (age 6 – 8)

    • In this class, students learn to read staff lines and notes as well as gaining physical control in two-hand coordination. Students are assessed at the end for their ability to understand the lectures and connect physically. Upon completion of the Creative Explorer A course, successful students are offered a promotion to appropriate classes and levels. 8 weeks.

  • Joyful Sounders (age 5 – 8)

    • As a continuing class, Joyful Sounders learn more musical details such as symbols, markings, and expanding the registers of the staff lines. Their physical control and coordination become more smooth. Students are assessed at the end for their ability to understand such details and to build a formidable discipline of daily practice habits. This course is renewable to meet the curriculum guideline. 8 weeks.

    • IN-PERSON FORMAT: EIGHT 40-minute Group Classes

  • Bach Riders (age 5 – 8)

    • This course introduces Bach’s songs and general techniques to motivated students. Advanced note reading skill is required as well as a consistent practice habit. Students are assessed at the end for their ability to control fingers and retain the memory of the sound and rhythm. 8 weeks.
    • ONLINE FORMAT: FOUR 20-minute Group Classes (every 2 weeks) and SIX 25-minute Private Online Lessons (convenient scheduling)
    • IN-PERSON FORMAT: EIGHT 45-minute Group Classes

  • Fly Away (age 5 – 9)

    • Students who have been promoted from Bach Riders may join the Fly Away course for our continuing journey into the music. This course is a liaison between this Course Journey and the Royal Conservatory of Music Program. Selected students from this course are invited to join and enroll in the Academy’s private lessons. 8 weeks.
    • ONLINE FORMAT: FOUR 20-minute Group Classes (every 2 weeks) and SIX 30-minute Private Online Lessons (convenient scheduling)
    • IN-PERSON FORMAT: EIGHT 50-minute Group Classes

  • Chords are Fun (age 5 – 12)

    • Students who have been promoted from a previous course to this one learn the whole new world of improvisation and chords. Additionally, older students with little to some background in piano may be placed in this course to continue exploring their passion for music. This course is renewable. 8 weeks.

Ensemble

  • Chamber Music

    • Chamber music includes collaboration with other instruments or piano duet for two or more players in music. Students will learn how to produce beautiful music together.

  • Choir

    • The choir sings a wide range of repertoires from around the world. Students are taught valuable skills in singing and breathing.

  • Orchestra

    • Orchestral instrumentalists may audition for an orchestra to gain more experience in music and ensemble.

  • Accompanying Collaborative Artist

    • Students learn how to succeed when accompanying singers and other players.

Music Clinics

  • Rhythm Clinic

    • Rhythm Clinic explores various ways to awaken the natural pulse as a valuable skill.

  • Power Technique

    • Power Technique focuses on building a strong foundation of technique through rigorous training and researching the methods and principles of master artists. Topics such as physiology, dexterity, and daily workout are discussed.

  • Round Finger Club

    • This group of students will always be on the lookout for the best practice and execution of the fingers’ core strength.

  • Smart Practice

    • In this class, students are introduced to strategies of effective practice.

  • Practice Marathon

    • Students are joined by others in keeping track of their practice hours, updated weekly.

  • Pitch Perfect

    • Through various activities, students are trained to build the high ability of the ears.

  • Clean Clinic

    • In this class, we analyze music with the mathematical approach. Students will learn to observe the score in the most basic method through discussions and experimentations on note values and symbols.

  • Quick Study

    • This group of students work on sight-reading challenges each week and prepare a concert-quality performance in a short duration of the study.

  • Dozen a Day

    • Specifically working on the series of books by Edna Mae Burnam, students will work together and master a new dimension in the piano study.

  • Memory Box

    • Upon completion of the Pitch Perfect and Rhythm Clinic, students can join the Memory Box to train ways to improve the skills of memorization in music.

  • Making Harmony

    • Using the recall technique, students will learn how to harmonize sounds.

  • 18th-Century Salon

    • Students will go back in time and experience the life of Romantic figures in the 18th Century of Liszt, Chopin, etc.

  • Flower Speaks

    • Using all the skills given, students discuss the true artistry of making music by applying interpretation, personification, psychology, and philosophy.

  • Stage Kids

    • Students discuss the psychology behind performing on stage, how to manage stress under pressure, and the preparation required to put on a show.
